Erik Mararv was born and raised in the Central African Republic (CAR). He has been hunting ever since his childhood. After finishing school, he was employed as ”assistant PH” by a safari operator in the northern part of CAR. After two years he completed his formal training as a hunter guide and was subsequently employed for three years by Idongo Safaris.

Central African Wildlife Adventures
Erik's wife, Emelie, came to CAR at the age of five and lived in the area until her teenage years where she returned to Sweden to complete her college education. Nature and life in the outdoors have always been an important element in Emelie's life and after completing her education in Sweden, she returned to CAR where she settled with Erik in the bush. It was at this time, that Erik and Emelie decided to start their own safari company, which they – very aptly – named Central African Wildlife Adventures.

CAR - thousands and thousands of square kilometres
They had always felt a certain fascination for the Eastern part of CAR, an area that appears merely as a large green blotch on most maps. The area covers thousands of square kilometres of uninhabited land. At the time, poaching was a major problem in the area, so Erik and Emelie decided to move so far east that there would be no other people there.

Located near the southern border - The river Mboumou
Their plans took form during the fall of 2005, and in January 2006 Erik and Emelie headed east to look for the land that they had been dreaming of. After passing Yalinga, the last outpost of civilization, they were forced to open up their own roads through the bush in order to get to the river Chinko. Chinko is a large river that flows from the north until it joins the Mboumou that forms the southern border of the CAR. The area that they discovered was a whole lot better than they had been able to imagine, and they needed little time to before they applying for the hunting rights in this totally unspoilt bush land. Since that time, an unbelievable amount of hard work has been invested in the project.

Anton Lundkvist
Anton works as a professional hunter for Central African Wildlife Adventures - CAWA. Anton grew up in the Central African Republic and lived in the country until he was 13 when his parents moved back to Sweden. After finishing school in Sweden, he returned to CAR to work as an assistant professional hunter for a safari operator in the northern part of CAR - the same operator that Erik Mararv used to work for.

Professional hunter and explorer
When CAWA was formed in 2006, Anton soon found himself deeply involved in the operation of this company. He now works full time for the company, partly as a PH. The rest of his time he devotes in exploring new hunting grounds in this huge and extremely exciting safari country. Hunting and life in the bush have been an integral part of Anton's life ever since his childhood years in CAR. He is only really at home when he puts his boots on and throws the rifle over the shoulder and goes hunting in the African bush.

Anton speaks the native CAR language, Sango, as well as French fluently, in addition, of course, to English and Swedish.
